Interweave is a congregational group of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies that encompasses the 1st and 2nd principles of Unitarian Universalism, the inherent worth and dignity of every person and justice, equality, and compassion in human relations. Interweave meetings occur the third Sunday of each month. The group has a monthly column in the church newsletter entitled, "Ask Izzy..." which addresses LGBTQ+ questions from anonymous individuals. Each year in August, Interweave participates in the UUSG Booth at the Gardner Days Street Fair.
Since the beginning of Interweave, we have come to realize that practicing our principles is not a simple process. But through our conversations and sharing our unique perspectives, the complexity becomes clear. As one of our allied members said, "Just because laws have passed does not mean the work is done. Prejudice is still alive and well." We welcome you to bring your thoughts, experiences, concerns, ideas, hopes, and questions to our monthly meetings. All are welcome, whoever you are, however you are.
NOTE: Our newest adventure is the launching of the Interweave cafe! Stay tuned.
