Social Action
Mission Statement
The UUSG works together to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need - in the greater Gardner community as well as the world at large. With respect for the inherent worth and dignity of every person. The UUSG uses the following means to achieve its goals:
- Acting as catalysts for the UUSG congregation regarding social justice issues, both locally and globally, and providing opportunities for all to be involved.
- Performing hands-on service in support of charitable organizations.
- Participating in fundraising events to support worthy causes.
- Informing parishioners about social justice legislation that could use their support.
Activities
Local efforts include:
- The Greater Gardner Community Action Council (CAC)
- The House of Peace and Education (HOPE)
National causes include:
- working to eliminate the death penalty
- working for gay/lesbian rights
- working for healthy food production
International causes include:
- working for economic justice
- working to eliminate hunger
